In a subscription based, planned-obsolescence, world...

We are bucking the system. Perfectly good mechanical systems are being discarded, scrapped, and left to fall into disrepair as an aging workforce that knew how to run the once cutting edge technology retires. Punch cards, tape reals, floppy disks, and other bygone forms of data input connected to seemingly ancient operating systems leave today's young engineers, machinists, and scientists with just one question, "What am I supposed to do with that?" They aren't wrong, the power of 3D CAD and modern CAM software streamlines the process of turning an idea into a tangible item.

In many cases, the mechanical portions of these machines are sound, built to last and often were built more robustly than modern equipment. Economics has driven manufacturing to become lighter and cheaper. But the control systems of these older machines cannot take instruction in any modern sense. That is where we come in. Lightwave Precision, LLC. is working to develop interface products, such as our JupiterIO board, as well as sensors, motion control interfaces, and other hardware to bridge modern PC communication protocols with the input and output signals, whether digital or analog, of yesteryears equipment. We are taking this mission by the reigns, by also creating the Firmware and Software environments to be highly customizable by end users, allowing for countless possibilities and applications.

But it isn't just about reviving tech from last century, even modern systems suffer from planned obsolescence, bad software and/or firmware updates that break all functionality "bricking", or companies that fold up or discontinue support leaving the hardware in limbo.

Or perhaps, the perfect system for your application doesn't yet exist, even though many of the parts are readily available and just need some way to seamlessly integrate them together.
